The SME Day organised by our member BVMW in Berlin on March 1st 2023, was a crowning success. It put SMEs at the core of the political debate on the European and global stage. Policymakers gathered to hear the opinions of leading representatives of European SMEs. They left the event persuaded of the best course of action, meaning supporting SMEs with adequate policies that ensure trust and thrive towards the future.
Among those who participated, we can include four Ministers and five State Secretaries of the German Federal Government, among which the Finance Minister Christian Lindner, the Minister for Trasports and Digital Transition, Volker Wissing, the Minister for Labour and Social Affairs, Hubertus Heil, and the Minister for Development, Svenja Schultze, two Ministers of the Italian government: Adolfo Urso, Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, and Antonio Tajani, Minister for Foreign Affairs, the President of European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME, Maurizio Casasco (s. photo above second row left), the Prime Minister of Latvia Krisjanis Karins (see photo second row right), the Vice-President of the European Parliament Nicola Beer, the Director General of DG GROW of the European Commission Kerstin Jorna, representatives of at least 50 embassies, several presidents and CEOs of German, European and international business associations, such as Olivier Vibert and Iris Brokamp, President and Secretary General of Eurojuris International, or Josef Jaroš and Petr Milata, President and Executive Board Member of Czech AMSP business association, and many members of the German Bundestag. More than 6,000 entrepreneurs joined them. Last but definitely not least, the host was German Der Mittelstand.

Many participants described this event as the best example of leaders meeting SMEs and entrepreneurs meeting among themselves that Berlin has seen for years. The SME Future Day will take place again in 2024! See you then in Berlin!
