GreenerSME Project and Innovation Platform for SMEs

The GreenerSME Project and Innovation Platform for SMEs, Research institutions of applied sciences and Industry partners

GreenerSME Project and Innovation Platform is designed to help achieve the Green Deal’s goals, a set of policy initiatives by the European Commission whose principal objective is reducing the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2030 by at least 55%, to eventually become climate neutral in 2050. Among the EU Green Deal’s targets, we can find – among others – to eliminate pollution (preservation of water, soil, and air), strive for a greener industry, and invest in more innovative and sustainable transport (digital mobility, clean road vehicles, and infrastructure).

To comply with these targets, GreenerSME has been set up by European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME to establish a systematic cooperation between research institutions of applied sciences, SMEs and their associations, as well as industry partners.

This platform will allow to develop the best green and climate-compatible solutions by SMEs, and make the European Union and its economy – mainly based on SMEs – become a global leader in sustainable solutions. The targeted innovation clusters significant for SMEs are mainly those on the right side of this scheme from 1 to 6 (whilst the left side are the societal objectives of the Green Deal):

In practice, focussing on these six innovation clusters would optimise the use of resources and strengthen collaboration among SMEs, in projects with cross-border consortia. Such cooperation would focus on research, innovation and development, bring added value to their companies, develop new patents, and become more competitive.

The GreenerSME platform works in the following ways:

  • European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME sends each month the GreenerSME EU Funding Monitor, regularly informing about calls for proposals by the European Programmes to be funded under Horizon Europe, LIFE+, Innovation Fund and COSME Programmes. Every month it updates which of them are opening or being launched. To receive this GreenerSME EU Funding Monitor, please sign up to our b2b platform SME2B.
  • Those companies and organisations that want to find project partners and project planning experts can contact us directly at projects@european-entrepreneurs.org. We are in contact with several qualified EU-project planning consultants and collect companies’ interest to help succeed with the EU Calls for Proposals in green Research & Development.
  • The SME2B platform is the ideal marketplace for companies, research institutions and project planning experts to create consortia, allowing to find new partners (thanks to a classification based on their areas of activity for every participant). For 2022, SME2B keeps being free of charge, but a membership fee will be introduced next year (49€/year for members of our member associations; 99€/year for non-members; monthly membership will not be possible).

Last but not least, European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME is the strategic SME Partner in Europe of GENERALI’s SME EnterPRIZE. This award for SME champions in sustainable solutions and performance represents a perfect way to promote a business culture of sustainability and for the prevention of climate change. It is supported by our member BVMW in Germany and counts our Estonian member EVEA’s Vice president Mrs Marina Kaas as a Jury member (she is also our European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME Vice-President).

SAVE THE DATE: October 26th 2022: Generali will host in Brussels the SME EnterPRIZE Award Ceremony with many prizes to European SME champions in the field of sustainability. Our Co-President Markus Jerger (Chairman of Der Mittelstand.BVMW/Germany) will join the event, together with EU-Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni, Club of Rome President Sandrine Dixson-Decleve, Co-President of the SME Intergroup at the European Parliament Martina Dlabajová, and the CEO of Generali Group Philippe Donnet, as well as others.
