The closing event of the DataSkills4SMEs project took place on 24 and 25 November. It was the occasion for participants to learn how the project achieved designing online orientations on digital and data skills for European SMEs. The project implemented four pilot courses for orientation and basic training on relevant topics identified through research and exchanges with market actors: Digital Sales & Marketing, Customer Relationship Management, Cybersecurity and Paperless Office.
The courses prepared by DataSkills4SMEs produced and organized “by companies for companies” and freely accessible to all constitute a first step that anticipates and directs users towards a more structured and in-depth training approach on topics of interest. Each orientation path is designed to help companies have an initial overview of the main relevant aspects, the technical characteristics and the problems mostly encountered, and thus intends to stimulate greater awareness of the need for training and updating in terms of digital skills for the company, offering simple, practical solutions that are easy and immediate to use without imposing a structured and rigid approach to the training proposal.
The online platform that hosts the orientation courses is free and allows entrepreneurs to learn about technologies and solutions, identify the first steps to take and plan training for the near future.
The event was joined by policymakers like Jean-François Junger, Deputy Head of Unit for Digital at the European Health and Digital Executive Agency HaDEA, who provided an overview of the Digital Europe Programme and its goals, and Arthur Treguier of the Unit for Digital Economy and Recovery Plan at DG CONNECT of the European Commission, who introduced our audience to the Digital Skills and Job Platform of the European Commission and presented the outcomes of the Digital Volunteers project. Their presentations confirmed how our project and its achievements contribute to the EU’s strategy of supporting the digitalisation of European SMEs to foster their competitiveness in the global market.
