Since 2016, Jorge Portugal is the general manager of COTEC Portugal, a leading private business cross-industry network, focused on innovation foresight, management capability-building and advocating on industrial policy, work and skills, bio-resources and circularity, smart digitalisation, IP management, among many other topics.
Previously, he accumulated extensive corporate management experience and transformation in retail, banking and information technology sectors.
Jorge served as an advisor on innovation, entrepreneurship at the office of the President of the Portuguese Republic and to the Portuguese Government. At university, he tough engineering curricula and is a frequent speaker at national and international events on subjects as business innovation, technology and management and instructor for executive training at several business schools. He has a relevant science contribution in the field of environmental turbulent dispersion, a topic on which he published a number of peer-reviewed research.
Jorge Portugal earned his graduation, MSc and PhD studies in mechanical engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, on Numerical Prediction of Geophysical Stratified Flows. He earned an MBA from NOVA School of Business and Economics and accomplished the Leadership Program on Cybersecurity of U.S. Department of State.
