European Entrepreneurs proposes a European-African SME Support Instrument (EASSI)

29 January 2021 – During today’s Business Consultations meeting organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Partnerships, chaired by the Director General of the same DG, Mr Koen Doens, European Entrepreneurs Managing Director, Mr Stefan Moritz, reiterated the need for a dedicated grant instrument for investments by SMEs in developing countries, particularly to create jobs and trigger growth in African countries.

We had already proposed such an instrument in 2020, thought to be similar to the “SME Instrument” offered by the European Commission for Research and Innovation in SMEs, but focussed on investing in Africa and contributing in the same moment to the Sustainable Development Goals, through intelligent business ideas that turn a development challenge into a profitable business case.
