European Entrepreneurs and EUIPO Sign Collaboration Agreement

Our President Maurizio Casasco with Andrea di Carlo, Deputy Executive Director of EUIPO

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and European Entrepreneurs have signed a cooperation agreement. The cooperation is the foundation of a partnership for a number of common activities, including webinars, trainings and informative material, aimed at European small and medium-sized companies to protect and defend their intellectual property rights.

In fact, SMEs play a critical role in today’s economy and can use intellectual property (IP) rights to build stronger, more competitive and resilient businesses. Despite their best efforts, however, IP disputes can and do arise. Some of these disputes take the form of patent trolling, meaning pretentious claims that small and medium-sized companies have violated intellectual properties laws to drag them into costly and lengthy litigations so that they are forced to pay up or see their business stifle.

We have supported SMEs in this field with past partnerships and campaigns, like #SOSPatentAbuse, and we look forward to our new cooperation with EUIPO.
