The OECD Upgraded its Working Party on SMEs and Entrepreneurship to a Level 1 Committee

On April 20, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Council approved the upgrading of its Working Party on SMEs and Entrepreneurship (WPSMEE) to level 1 Committee reporting directly to the Council.

This is a fantastic achievement for SMEs and entrepreneurs in Europe and all over the world. It means that SMEs are going to be from now on much more at the heart of policy making and analysis of the OECD than before as one sub-party of the First level Committee “Industry”. European Entrepreneurs together with the International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises – INSME, and in particular thanks to our members BVMW, CONFAPI and EVEA, which raised awareness among their national Ministries and representatives at the OECD, campaigned vehemently for this upgrade!

We are enthusiastic that SMEs will now get more consideration in a key decision-making institution on international economic cooperation.
